Ronnie Tamura travels to Hiroshima to learn more about the ancestors that she lost in the nuclear bombing. But when her fiancé, Shon Daniel, confronts her with his shocking news, their lives together are forever changed. History repeats itself when she finds herself in a hospital once again. It is while she is in a coma, that she begins to see visions of her past life as Reiki, in seventeenth century Japan.
Reiki is abandoned by, Sakura, the most beautiful geisha in the country. She is raised by the kind Tamura family. As a child, she emulates all the moves of the teenage, Daichi, as he practices his samurai skills daily. The father, Takashi Tamura, is so impressed with her agility, he takes her to the reclusive Yoshida family on the neighboring farm. Reiki learns that the Yoshidas have to remain in hiding, as they are Christians, and ninjas, which both are banned by the government.
She is trained by the family to be a ninja, but her life takes a turn when her mother, Sakura, takes her away to become a geisha at the tea house in Osaka. Daichi moves there, too, in order to be close to the girl that he has fallen in love with.
But the powerful, Lord Kimura, with the government of the shogun, has his eyes on Reiki, too. Conflicts arise, and when Daichi is forced to use his samurai skills in battle, Reiki reminds him that she is a geisha by day and a ninja by night. Lord Kimura devises ways to hurt those who challenge him. He orders the killing of all Christians in the land. Tensions increase as these two men fight for the same woman, and finally, tragedy erupts.
Ronnie finds recuperating from her deadly accident very difficult, in order to move on from her painful past. Like Hiroshima, she has experienced 'hakai', the Japanese word for destruction and ravaged. Scarred, and permanently injured, she loses hope of ever reuniting with her love, Shon.
The psychiatrist, Dr. Kameko, helps Ronnie to heal and accept that past traumas are used for future strength. She is finally able to see the bigger picture, as she contemplates on her role and mission, like other twin souls all over the world, to usher in the Age of Aquarius. The new earth will be eradicated from the patriarchal system, controlling for centuries. She had to experience the oppressive geisha-like lives of subjugation and exploitation in this life and the past, in order to clear them, and make way for the rise of the Divine Feminine. There needs to be a balance of both masculine and feminine energies, to create a balanced world, free from the domination, abuse, and destruction of patriarchy.
As Ronnie gains insight into her life mission, her future with Shon becomes clear, and the miracles of God, and the magic of love, unfold.
